5. CASE NO: 1: A 25-year-old builder suddenly develops a golf-ball-sized, slightly tender lump in his right groin after lifting a 20-kg bag of sand. He states that he felt a tearing sensation as it happened. He attends the accident and emergency department. A. What is your diagnosis and why you are saying so? B. What are the other questions you will ask in history? C. What clinical tests are being performed in Fig2 and Fig3? D. What are the three types of Indirect Inguinal Hernia? E. What Surgeries are being done in Fig5 and Fig6? F. What are the post-op complications? ‘I’ve developed a lump in my groin’

6. CASE NO: 2: ‘I can’t push my lump back in any more’ A 7-month-old baby was brought to surgical outpatient clinic with a inguinoscrotal lump. He has had the lump for the past 2 months, but previously it appears only on crying. Over the last 2 days has descended into the scrotum and was unable to reduce. The baby started vomiting since one day. A. What is your diagnosis and why you are saying so? B. What are the complications that can happen in inguinal hernia ? C. 7. CASE NO: 3: ‘My hernia is sore and I’ve started to vomit’ A slim 73-year-old man has had a groin lump for some time which he ignored. Over the last 3 days, it has become progressively more painful, with redness of the overlying skin. He has not opened his bowels during this time (which is unusual for him), and yesterday he started to vomit. A. What is your diagnosis and why you are saying so? B. What are you seeing in Fig1 and Fig2? C. How will you manage this patient? D. Name some special types of hernias?

8. CASE NO: 4: ‘A lady with groin swelling below inguinal ligament’ A 60-year-old woman presented with a groin swelling that was below and lateral to the pubic tubercle. It became irreducible and skin over the swelling was erythematous and tender for 1 day. A. What is your diagnosis and why you are saying so? B. Why it is common in females? C. What is the commonest complication and What is the reason? D. How will you manage this patient?
